About Mazhar Khaleqi
Mazhar Khaleqi was a pillar of Sorani classical-folk fusion. Born in Sanandaj in 1938, he trained in Iranian classical (radif) tradition and brought that sophistication to Kurdish folk arrangements. His refined voice and modal precision made him a reference point for Sorani singers. He performed and recorded into his 80s and passed away in 2023.
