About the Tanbur
A long-necked lute with 2-3 strings, sacred to the Yarsan (Ahl-e Haqq) religious tradition. Playing the tanbur is itself a form of worship in Yarsan ceremonies. The instrument also has secular folk use across Kurdish musical contexts.
